This place saved my sanity. And my life. I will never forget the defeat I felt when I found out I was being committed here against my will. I thought I would find the experience uncomfortable and all out dreadful. Only one of these were true. It was uncomfortable. But the experience, and invasive treatment I got saved me. I’m not prone to outbursts anymore. I am 2 years sober from heroin. And it’s all because of my medication that they found worked through trial and error. They had to do away with home visits because of my roommate’s suicide. Rest In Peace. But they will keep you until you get better. If you truly surrender yourself to the treatment and listen. You will get better. I haven’t been back to a mental ward since. I was on 421 A. An addictions and mental illness unit. It was like they did everything they could to save me. We went outside often when it got warm. It’s not like jail. You have people to interact with, and you have people who will listen. Attend all to 90% of your groups that are assigned to you. It’s insentive to get out faster, and get better at the same time. It’s a pain. But it’s a good system. People care here. They never made me feel otherwise. Thanks to everyone on 421 A. Thanks for the accommodations that were given to me. And I cannot say enough about how kind everybody was. The food was kinda subpar though. But hey, they agreed to a double portions diet for me. That’s amazing. Thank you all!!!
